Lots of Reason to Look into Locks of Love
Like some women, I become nervous when I think about having my hair cut. I also enjoy growing my hair long. People often ask me if it bothers me in the summertime. Surprisingly, my hair can be placed high with any kind of stick, eg. chopstick, pencil, pen, hairstick, etc. I noticed that after my last haircut 25 months ago, I had grown at least 10 inches that can be rubber-banded and donated to Locks of Love. So, I thought it would be more eventful to capture the process of my donating hair to Locks of Love on video. Twenty-five months ago, I learned that this organization was collecting video, and finally, I have an easy-to-use flip camera. It took the tension away. On my day off, I had a nice beef Pho at my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Los Angeles called Phobulous and the headed to Supercuts, which is a participant that gives donors a free haircut after the requisite length of hair is rubber-banded and then cut off. I did not want to demand much time from my hairdresser, and I offered her an opportunity to cut my hair any way she wished...a big gamble. She did a wonderful job, giving me a short modern haircut. I tipped her generously because she voluntarily took a lot of time to make me look good, even though she knew that she would giving it to me for free. The next day, I also had some bragging rights. In response to a compliment, I chimed: "It was a free haircut because I donated hair to Locks of Love." It has been a very uplifting week, and I am glad that my hair will help make a wig for a child in need.
